Reports and charges

Incidents turn into reports by themselves. You check the narrative, pick the charges, and sign.

Incidents

An incident starts on a pull-over, a pursuit or an accepted callout. Talking to someone outside one starts a field contact, which turns into whatever starts next. A stop that turns into a pursuit stays one incident.

It closes when the stop or callout ends, or after Config.IdleMinutes (15) with no activity, and you get a notification that its draft is ready.

The narrative writes itself

The draft narrative is built from the incident's timeline:

Traffic stop handled by 1-ADAM-12 at Strawberry Ave / Davis Ave, Davis on 10/20/2026.
Vehicle: 2015 Black Bravado Buffalo (4ABC123), registered to John Smith. Return: STOLEN, uninsured.
Subject: John Smith (DOB 01/02/1990). Return: ACTIVE WARRANT, licence suspended.

14:33 Plate check 4ABC123: STOLEN
14:36 Tow truck requested
14:51 Stop cleared

Until you edit it, the narrative keeps updating as the timeline grows. Rebuild from timeline throws your edits away and goes back to the automatic version.

Forms

Every report is one of:

Written Warning
CitationTraffic stops
Arrest / Incident ReportEverything else

A warning lists its charges as violations with no fine.

Charges

The list is California's: Penal Code, Health & Safety Code and Vehicle Code, in section order, 210 charges in all. Each has its class (infraction, misdemeanor or felony), fine and licence points. The search box above the list matches section, name or description, and charges you've picked stay visible.

Charges are in lwk_mdt/charges.lua. Edit them freely: a report keeps its own copy of each charge, so changing the list never changes a signed report.

New reports

New report on a person or vehicle starts a blank report with them attached, for paperwork that didn't come from an incident.

Who can see and change what

Every report is visible to everyone who can open the MDT. A report, draft or signed, can be edited or deleted by its author, or by anyone with the supervisor ace:

add_ace group.admin lwk_mdt.supervisor allow

Players listed in Config.Admins also get a Delete All Drafts button.
